Quantity Surveyor for St George the Martyr Holborn

St George the Martyr, Queen Square, WC1N 3AH is seeking a qualified and experienced Quantity Surveyor. This commission forms part of a major National Lottery Heritage Fund supported capital project aimed at safeguarding the future of this beautiful Grade II* listed building. Located in the heart of London's Knowledge Quarter, St George the Martyr stands as a peaceful sanctuary amid the bustle of the city. Designed in 1706 and enhanced under the supervision of Nicholas Hawksmoor, with major 19th-century works by Samuel Sanders Teulon, the church has long served the Bloomsbury community and beyond. Today, it remains rooted in its local neighbourhood while embracing a mission to welcome all who live, work, study or pass through the area. Despite its active ministry and community engagement, the building is currently on Historic England's Heritage at Risk Register following the partial collapse of its historically important Hawksmoor ceiling in 2018. This exciting capital project is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to restore that ceiling and address wider repairs to the historic fabric, while reimagining the church's role for a diverse and evolving city. Alongside the urgent conservation work, the church plans to transform underused interior spaces, improve accessibility and environmental sustainability, and develop new facilities to support both community and commercial use. St George the Martyr now invites a Quantity Surveyor to join the consultant team helping to bring this vision to life. To receive the full tender brief, please contact Abi Morris, Client Project Manager.
