Install and Maintenance of Ground Based Photovoltaic Cells at the British Film Institute (BFI) Master Film Store at Gaydon Warwickshire - AWARD

BFI is tendering for a provider for the installation and maintenance of ground-based photovoltaic cells at our Gaydon site, in Warwickshire, which is a 20-acre site that was originally a MOD site but gifted to the BFI in the late 1970s. The main purpose of the site is to house the buildings which provide the close controlled environmental conditions to house major elements of the BFI National Collection of Film and Television, which is the World's largest collection of moving image film and television. The power consumption at the Gaydon site is approximately 1,500,000 kWh per annum and, in keeping with carbon reduction and cost reduction targets, the BFI investigated the installation of solar photovoltaic cells at Gaydon in order to reduce the BFI's carbon footprint and reliance on the National Grid. We have identified, and obtained planning permission, for the installation of ground mounted PV panels to two areas which are either side of the Master Film Store building. BFI National Lottery Evaluation Strategy Support - AWARD

In September 2022, the BFI released its new 10-year strategy, Screen Culture 2033 , incorporating two core documents: the corporate strategy covering all activity delivered directly by the BFI as a cultural charity; and the National Lottery strategy (and accompanying Funding Plan) setting out how we will distribute funds in our remit as the distributor for the screen sector. During the BFI's previous strategy period (BFI2022) significant steps were made towards consistently commissioning and learning from evaluations. As part of the new strategy, a more cohesive approach will ensure that evaluation is comprehensively implemented as a core part of the BFI's processes, and that the use of evaluation is maximized. The BFI wishes to commission an external evaluation consultant to work with Fund Managers to develop bespoke logic models for each of the 21 National Lottery programmes (incorporating 24 strands and sub-funds with specific priorities) that make up the new strategy.

An Evaluation of the UK global screen fund pilot - AWARD

The UK market for feature film and high-end television has been on an upward trajectory in recent years. On top of the economic benefits the UK screen sector is considered one of the most established and influential cinema and television content-makers in the world. Beyond cultural impact, the quality of British filmmaking, TV production and animation and narrative games are globally recognised, UK audio-visual schools are highly regarded worldwide, and the nationally produced visual effect industry often leads the way in innovation. Despite this, the independent screen sector faces a number of challenges, as identified by the BFI's recent Economic Review of UK Independent Film . In this report, the UK Global Screen Fund was identified as one of the existing interventions designed to address the downward trend in independent film activity and support the sector to find new markets for UK content. The UK Global Screen Fund (UKGSF) was established as a 1-year pilot fund in 2021-22 We would like to commission an evaluation of the pilot year of the UKGSF. The evaluation should assess the impacts of the UKGSF in its first year of operation, and also the processes around its implementation. We expect the evaluation in the pilot year of the UKGSF to cover three distinct elements process evaluation, impact evaluation and economic evaluation.

Film and HETV Job Description Templates - AWARD

The BFI Skills Review 2022 notes the inconsistent use of job descriptions and specifications within physical production. The absence of a job description can: - perpetuate the opaqueness of career pathways; - prevent people from identifying the skills they need to progress; - create barriers for people moving into production from other sectors; and - make it harder for those returning to work in the industry after a period of absence. To support freelance development in the sector and improve awareness and accessibility of jobs within the industry, we are seeking a supplier to: - Review the current use of job descriptions within the UK film and TV production sector, currently existing resources, and identify roles and departments where they are not commonly used; - Identify and agree with the BFI roles for which the creation of job description templates can be most useful and applicable, complementing any existing publicly available resources or ongoing work. - Work with industry practitioners with hiring responsibilities to produce job description templates that can be adopted by productions at the contracting stage - Use existing relationships to disseminate templates to productions and produce recommendations for long-term dissemination.
