The STEP programme will design and build the world's first compact prototype fusion powerplant, based on the spherical tokamak design, by 2040s. Currently, the concept design of all major systems and plant are in an ongoing refinement process
      The purpose of this contract is to develop a concept control system of a Power and Energy Management System (PEMS), and to further develop the powerplant simulation models for its STEP Prototype Plant (SPP) Electrical Infrastructure system. Further Information is available in the ITT and accompanying documents.)

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.

Site Steam Upgrade Project - Principal Contractor & Installation Package

The purpose of this project is to increase the Institute’s sustainability (both environmental & financial), reduce carbon emissions and safeguard the steam supply to all buildings utilising steam generated at Pirbright. This will be achieved by a combination of the following three factors: • New steam main & condensate recovery system to steam users currently served by the end of life Western Boiler House. • Removal of inefficient and end of life Western Boiler house & increasing load on the currently underutilised, efficient, EC1 steam generation plant by 450kWh (585 kg/hr). • Upgrading 2 of 4 EC1 steam boilers with burners capable of 10:1 turndown ratio to enable more efficient operation at low production rates during summer months. Contract Scope The contract is for a single supplier to act as the Principal Contractor and complete all works as follows: • Supporting the Stage 4 design with client nominated designer and Project Manager • Supply and Installation of EC1 steam boiler burners (x2). • Steam connection & packaged steam – LTHW interface to Engineering workshop • Enabling works for new steam & condensate return connections located on EC1 steam distribution and WBH. • Supply and installation of steam and condensate equipment. • Facilitate installation & commissioning of EC1 boiler burner replacements. • Supply and installation of new steam connection & condensate return including all required equipment. • Deliver a phased changeover of steam delivery from the WBH to the newly installed connection fed from EC1. • Decommission, removal and disposal of WBH and associated redundant equipment. • Disconnection and isolation of gas, compressed air and mains water. • Commissioning and handover including Project Information Folder (PIF) is provided to the client Project Manager.
