S30003 Project Nectarine Enablement

A new high-profile scheme is now entering PCF stage 1&2 (Options) codenamed Nectarine, which are junction upgrades at A421 associated with the construction and operation of the Universal Studios theme park in Bedfordshire. This park will be part of a larger 476-acre entertainment resort complex, which is expected to open by 2031. It is reported that the new theme park is set to generate nearly £50bn for the economy as well as creating around 28,000 jobs - 20,000 in the construction period and 8,000 working on the site when it opens to visitors. Due to the high-profile nature of this scheme, there is a requirement is work efficiently, to streamline processes and find faster ways to deliver.

T0647 Close Following

National Highways is committed to reducing injuries resulting from Road Traffic Collisions (RTC). Early in 2015 Task 352 facilitated initial trials at an off-road facility to identify whether sensor technology could be developed to measure the frequency of - and enforce - close following offences. At the time, four of the six systems showed potential. Subsequently Task 520 subjected the promising prototype systems to further, and more complex, off-road trials. These additional trials provided the system suppliers with important testing and development time at an off-road facility. Trials were conducted using a greater number of vehicles, various vehicle types (including motorbikes) and more scenarios. All four prototype systems involved in Task 520 were believed to be capable of supporting the on-road trials to gather data to understand the extent of the close following problem on the network. SPATS Task 1-022 took the first equipment to a live roadside site and analysed the performance of the systems.

T0644 TTDC3050 Research into UK EV Charging Infrastructure and Installation Cost Data

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles ('OZEV', the 'Authority') is seeking to appoint a consultancy firm (the 'Supplier') to undertake a research project on the cost to install private and publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the UK. This is to build OZEV's understanding of the costings of EV chargepoints in residential settings, workplace settings, public on-street locations, car parks, rapid charging hubs, motorway service areas and depots. To address these evidence gaps, the Supplier is required to conduct primary research on UK EV infrastructure costs, using a quantitative approach. The Supplier must deliver a publishable report outlining detailed costs, alongside analysis, sources and methodology, which will inform OZEV charging infrastructure cost assumptions and policymaking.

The key purpose of this service is to 'ensure standards and requirements for Freight and Litter are up to date and support company objectives for RIS3 and beyond'. The key objectives include: 1. To embed and assure compliance of the Customer Service Standard on Reducing Litter and ensure the DMRB Standards for Inspection and Maintenance (GS801 and GM701) relating to 'Sweeping and CED Portfolio Business Case 2024-25 Page 26 of 48 Cleaning' and are up to date and align with Defra's new Code of Practice on litter and refuse. 4. Updating and relocating the behavioural toolkit which contains information and data on previous litter interventions, including evaluation and benefits. The toolkit is referred to in the Customer service Standard so requires updating to make the CSS effective and needs to be easily accessible. 5. To review current National Highways Standards and requirements, other standards and requirements such as LTN 1/20 and customer insight to understand if updates are required.
