Description

Cardiff University is seeking a highly professional, efficient, high quality Clinical waste disposal contractor, dedicated to providing an expert technical service which is conducted in an environmentally sustainable manner, which complies with all current and future legislation and aims to achieve the best ‘overall environmental outcome’. The contractor(s) will be a leader in hazardous waste management and be committed to excellence in professional delivery through membership of CIWM and accredited to a scheme such as Safe Contractor (or equivalent). The contract is for the provision of a Clinical waste disposal service for the University.

At the end of the initial contract term the Commissioner will have extension options of up to 4 years in total, made of 2 x 24 month periods, which will be awarded at the Commissioner's discretion, giving a maximum possible contract value of £3,474,000 inclusive of VAT over 9 years if the full contract term is fulfilled. The Commissioner is of the view that TUPE does not apply to this service The new contract will commence on the 1st of October 2026 with mobilisation planned from April 2026

This procurement is being carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of BNSSG ICB.
