Description

Seaton Valley Council is undertaking a strategic transition from traditional annual bedding schemes to perennial, sustainable planting across its public spaces. This initiative aims to:

- Enhance long-term value by reducing the need for seasonal replanting & associated costs.
- Support biodiversity through pollinator-friendly species and varied planting structures.
- Reduce waste by minimising plant turnover and promoting compostable materials.
- Improve climate resilience with drought-tolerant, low-maintenance species adapted to changing conditions.

The new planting approach will prioritise native and perennial species, eco-conscious maintenance practices, and multi-sensory designs that evolve naturally throughout the seasons. Contractors and suppliers are encouraged to align proposals with these sustainability goals and demonstrate innovation in ecological landscaping.
