Description

UKNNL are working with a University to develop and trial a muon particle detector to be used
to image shielded boxes during decommissioning activities at Sellafield. Whilst in operation the detector
will not be shielded and as such will be exposed to the full radiation field from the waste boxes. As part
of the research to determine the detectors suitability, it is necessary to understand the functionality of
the electronic detector modules when exposed to radiation. After a successful test at a Co-60 gamma
facility, this follow up testing will support further development of the detector.
