Description

The equipment will set out to explore the prevalence of dark oxygen production at the deep seafloor.  To do this, we will require benthic chamber lander platforms that can measure seafloor oxygen fluxes.  This types of lander platform required is where the benthic chamber remains closed during the deployment. The benthic chamber lander requires three chambers, including stirrers and syringe samplers, with all components rated to 12,000m.
It is well known within the industry (deep-sea biogeochemistry) that this niche closed benthic chamber lander platform can only be supplied by K.U.M. Kiel GmbH.

Iridium Satellite Modem Supply

Marine Systems Engineering (MSE) in the Met Office maintain a network automatic weather stations consisting of moored buoys in the North Atlantic Ocean, Light Vessels in the English Channel and Voluntary Observation Ships. This network was originally established in the 1990’s and remains a key component of our well characterised and high quality ‘reference’ capability, providing much valued observations for operational forecasting, climate monitoring and key calibration data for meteorological satellites. Marine Observation data is currently transmitted hourly over the Iridium Short Burst Data (SBD) satellite network using now obsolete Iridium 9522b SBD modems. Observations are limited to hourly due to the cost of Iridium satellite SBD data plans. Met Office need to procure a replacement modem, with a suggested change in technology moving form Short Burst Data (SBD) to Internet Protocol (IP).

Civil Engineering Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) Scotland - projects up to 5 million GBP

The Scottish Ministers have been working with internal and external stakeholders on the development of a Scottish collaborative Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) for Civil Engineering projects up to 5 million GBP for use across the Scottish public sector. To be considered, economic operators are required to complete the Single Procurement Document (SPD) including the Financial Standing Workbook, the Technical and Professional Ability Workbook (including Core Terms Acceptance and SOC Check) and the Environmental Management and Climate Change Plan Form in accordance with the Contract Notice and the accompanying Instructions document. Economic operators will be evaluated in accordance with the Public Contracts Regulations (Scotland) 2015, on the basis of the information provided within their application. A Price Quality Ratio (PQR) of 30% Price and 70% Quality (with a range of +/-20%) will be undertaken for all calls for competition under this DPS.
