Description

Essex County Council, through the Essex Procurement Partnership, is procuring Bedding Plants on behalf of Tendring District Council.\r
\r
Tendring District Council ("the Council") places much emphasis on the quality of the environment within the District for the benefit of residents and visitors and the provision of high class and colourful bedding plant displays throughout its public gardens form a major part of current grounds maintenance programme.\r
\r
The Council uses a wide range of seasonal bedding plants in public gardens across the District, the main displays are located at Clacton Seafront, Crescent Gardens Frinton, Marine Gardens Walton and Mayors Garden Dovercourt. There are further smaller displays at other locations.\r
\r
Planting typically commences during the 1st week of June for Summer Bedding and the\r
1st week of October for Spring Bedding and is undertaken over three to four week periods. The Council's Open Spaces team carry out planting and maintenance across the District.\r

Plants for spring bedding will be ordered by the end of May and plants for summer bedding will be ordered by the last week in October in each cyclic period. The Contractor will be advised of the exact planting dates for each planting period approximately one month before delivery, this will be dependent on growing conditions and how the current seasonal displays look.\r
\r
The contractor will be required to deliver all plants to nominated points throughout the District and timeliness of delivery is crucial. On average the Council orders approximately 45,000 to 67,500 plants per year for its displays approximately 40,000 to 60,000 for the summer period and 5,000 to 7,500 plants for the autumn period.\r

The Council may order any combination of plants during the contract period for its bedding scheme The Council may place orders with the Supplier based upon a production list of plant requirements chosen from the Pricing Schedule, The pricing rate that shall be applied for each variety of each species will be determined by the total requirement for that variety contained within the individual order.\r
