Description

Contractor Involvement (ECI) for the A38 Deep Lane Pedestrian Cycle Bridge, using Hampshire County Council's GEN5-2 Framework, for a 2-stage approach. The approach is NEC Option E for Stage 1 ECI and NEC Option A for Stage 2 Construction.

A38 Deep Lane Pedestrian Cycle Bridge is the highway infrastructure design and construction works, for a cycle bridge over the A38, connecting into existing highway infrastructure. Interactions with National Highways, Devon County Council, Plymouth City Council and private developers and land owners is required. The preferred bidder will take on the CDM roles of Principal Designer and Principal Contractor.

The new pedestrian / cycle 80m bridge is to be designed and constructed across the existing A38 trunk road adjacent to the Deep Lane overbridge.

This proposal will connect two major developments at the new town of Sherford and the Langage Business Park.

The existing traffic signal junction on the south side of the A38 will be upgraded to add extra capacity and pedestrian / cycle signal phases.

A new pedestrian / cycle route will be installed connecting to the existing route at Lyneham Lane via a proposed parallel crossing. The route will be constructed on the east side of Deep Lane, running across the new bridge and connecting to the southern junction.

Stage 1 of this contract is estimated to commence on 13th August 2024 followed by a mobilisation period of up until 9th September 2024 and is estimated to operate until 23rd December 2024.

There is an option to proceed to Stage 2 (Construction) at the procurers discretion and subject to achieving the requirements as set out in the Scope and associated tender documents. The programme for Stage 2 will be agreed with the Council should agreement be reached to proceed to Stage 2.

Stage 2 is estimated to commence on 23rd December 2024 and is estimated to operate until 23rd December 2025.
