Description

This research will focus on current Government actions (policies, regulations, research etc.) aimed at achieving the targets and commitments of Thriving Plants and Wildlife, the apex goal of the Environmental Improvement Plan 2023 for England (EIP).  The overarching aim is to provide the OEP with a detailed understanding of current government actions, which can then inform our independent analysis and reporting on progress with delivery of the Thriving Plants and Wildlife goal.

Funding model development for beaver management partnerships

This project is to explore the development of short and long-term funding approaches to support the establishment and running of beaver management partnerships. The key aims of the partnerships will be to build stakeholder relationships, share information and fund a beaver field officer to support land managers and riparian users to manage potential impacts from beavers. EBC - Contaminated Land Investigation, Assessment & Report for Proposed Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG) at Land at Field Common Farm, Field Common Lane, Walton on Thames, Surrey, KT12 3QD

EBC is currently in the process of agreeing Heads of Terms for the acquisition of the land at Field Common Farm site. However, prior to a more detailed contract being agreed, EBC is undertaking its due diligence and, given the sites' land use history, requires site investigations to understand the ground conditions in terms of land contamination and cost implications thereof, of a proposed SANG at this Site. EBC is therefore seeking to appoint suitably qualified consultants: o To undertake a due diligence site investigation to understand and report on the ground conditions in terms of land contamination on a proposed SANG at the Site. o To understand and report on the risks to future site users and other identified receptors posed by land contamination (soil, gas / vapour and Controlled Water, where appropriate) on the subject Site. o Where unacceptable risks are identified, to provide outline information (with cost estimate) for remediation measures necessary to ensure the final development is safe and suitable for its intended use. Assessment of our legal and regulatory duties under environmental law

The MCA needs to comply with environmental policy, legislation, and regulation (PLR) when sponsoring and delivering infrastructure. To date we've assessed environmental PLR on a project-by-project basis, but we wish to be a well-informed intelligent client at the programme level as well to ensure we are getting best value when commissioning contractors - in addition to achieving compliance. We also need to ensure we align with the environmental policy and standards of our local unitary authorities. This work will provide a full assessment of the environmental PLR that the MCA needs to comply with or should require compliance with, and how to comply in practice with a concise detailed guide, in our roles: A. As a direct deliverer of projects (where the MCA is the client for delivery, where we are directly commissioning construction or services.) B.
