Description

This opportunity is for eligible organisation to bid to the Mental Health Investment Fund (“MHIF”), a Surrey wide resource to enable the delivery of the outcomes in Priority Two of our Health and Wellbeing Strategy. This priority area is focused on prevention, removing barriers, and supporting people to become proactive in improving their emotional health and wellbeing.
The fund will be used to support services which are non-statutory; developed by local, community-based groups. The priority for funding will be to schemes that directly impact local interventions supporting our priority populations and the delivery of the outcomes of Priority Two of the Health and Wellbeing Strategy. We want to encourage community groups to come forward and access funding for innovative approaches to mental ill health prevention which will make a direct impact on their community.
ELIGIBLE ORGANISATIONS
Organisations which are charitable in purpose and are working for the benefit of people in Surrey, including:
- Registered charities
- CIO (Charitable Incorporated Organisations)
- Charitable Trusts – other than educational establishments
- Voluntary and community groups
- Faith groups
- Educational establishments for exceptional projects that fall outside statutory support and benefit school communities facing particular disadvantage
- Community Benefit Societies with charitable status
- CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club)
- Not for profit organisations such as CICs (Community Interest Companies) with a clear social purpose, for their charitable activities
AREAS OF FOCUS

We are particularly looking for projects which address one or more of the following areas of need:
- Suicide prevention, in particular focusing on men, bereavement/relationship support, loneliness and isolation.
- Support during pregnancy and immediately after birth.
- Support for parents and young families, such as parenting programmes.
- School-based interventions targeting children and young people.
- Workplace-based interventions
- Interventions which reduce smoking, alcohol, drug use and improve physical health conditions.
PRIORITY POPULATIONS
We are particularly looking for projects which directly support any of the following priority populations:
- People experiencing homelessness
- Gypsy, Roma, Traveller community
- People experiencing domestic abuse
- People with drug and alcohol problems
KEY NEIGHBOURHOODS
All 21 key neighbourhoods are of interest for MHIF funding.
