Description

An element of the NCEA programme is the England Ecosystem Survey (EES) which is a new method of collecting environmental data. The aim of the EES is to get a true understanding of the condition of England's terrestrial environment, and to do this we need to identify landowners and land users, and secure land access permission to carry out surveys on their land. The surveys will collect data relating to habitats, vegetation, peat and landscape as well as soil and water biota eDNA and support Natural England's earth observation programme.

South Ken Zen+ Heat and Energy Project

We are posting this notice on behalf of the Exhibition Road Cultural Group. They are looking for experienced sustainability consultants to conduct a piece of work that will help our neighbourhood in Kensington to decarbonise heat and energy. The 22 Exhibition Road Cultural Group organisations are working together to become a zero emissions, nature positive neighbourhood through the South Ken ZEN+ programme. To reach our ambitious goals, we need to explore transformational opportunities for low carbon/zero carbon energy sources, projects and funding across the neighbourhood. This could include heat networks and other shared solutions, or individual solutions, to energy generation. The Exhibition Road Cultural Group is inviting tenders to support the members in a neighbourhood approach to decarbonising heat and energy with a focus on accessing further funding and exploring opportunities by: o Mapping and collating existing funding and project opportunities o Establishing a baseline of energy and heat demand across the members o Collating a systems inventory across members with coordinated timelines. Investigation of regulated tidal exchange and water level control structures for management of saline lagoons at North Killingholme Haven Pits Site of Special Scientific Interest, North East Lincolnshire

North Killingholme Haven Pits SSSI is near Immingham, North East Lincolnshire, on the south bank of the Humber Estuary (central grid reference TA1662919816). The privately owned,16ha, site comprises former clay pits which have developed into saline lagoons. It is within the Humber Estuary Special Protection Area/Ramsar site and is of international importance for non-breeding waterfowl. The site is connected to the Humber Estuary by a manually operated sluice in the flood bank, which allows for the regulated exchange of tidal water. The sluice is over 50 years old and is not fully functioning due to siltation, and health and safety concerns regarding its operation. The aims of the investigation are to survey the existing water level control structures on site, and appraise the options for management of water levels to achieve the site objectives. Outputs include a levels survey, concept designs and estimated costs for each option and associated actions. Site surveys are required. Technical and practical expertise is required. This is difficult terrain due to tidal mudflats and open water. There is also a working railway line. A site-based risk assessment will be required to be submitted to Natural England. Contract to start 1 September 2025, with final report to be submitted by 1 March 2026.

Daphnia magna Bioaccumulation Project

Building upon the Environment Agency (2025) evidence review, and considering the findings of Çelik et al. (2025), we are looking to employ a contractor, with expertise in performing D. magna ecotoxicology studies and method development, to perform a comprehensive assessment of the use of D. magna for screening the B potential of substances. This is being procured under the Research and Development exemption (Schedule 2, Part 1, Section 22 Procurement Act 2023).
