Pre-school Child Care at Thorpe Astley Community Centre

The Thorpe Astley Community Appraisal in 1999, received survey responses from over 500 Thorpe Astley residents of all ages, this appraisal identified a potential need for a Playgroup/pre-school.

Since the community centre opened in October 2010, an early years pre-school has been provided during school term time from the main hall. From the school year 2010/2011 until 2015/2016 the times of opening were Monday to Friday (term time) 8.30am - 3pm (1pm on a Tuesday). During the current school year (2016/2017) the times of opening are Monday to Friday (term time) 8.30am - 1pm.

On 2nd December 2016, the current provider informed the Council that it could no longer offer childcare from the centre and formally gave notice to terminate, stated they would confirm the final date of the term.

The pre-school is provided from the Community Centre using the Main Hall (maximum capacity 80); with access to an outdoor play area, storage space, kitchen and children's toilet facilities.

RCC 1461 Tender for Family Hub Activities for Rutland County Council

The Council wishes to invite tenders for the supply of services in respect of Family Hub Services. The Council has launched a new Living Well Rutland Service that combines its library, health, wellbeing, and adult learning services into one. The Family Hub, which is part of Living Well Rutland, provides high quality play and learning sessions for children from vulnerable Rutland families alongside a programme of parenting support for adults. As the Council develops its Living Well Rutland offer, the family hub element will provide a more focused offer for families identified as needing extra support. This requires an understanding of their needs, how to engage them and flexibility in the delivery of services. Family hubs hold relationships at the heart of service delivery. The ability to listen well and listen carefully to families, be curious about a child's life within a family and understand the 'world' of not only the child but the parent too is essential. This will generate the greatest positive impact. If we can understand, we can support effectively and in a timely fashion. To do this we need consistency of delivery, quality, and staff. Children and their families need the opportunity to build trusted relationships to talk about support they may need. This tender is following a soft market testing exercise which was issued in December 2024, Find a Tender ref: 2024/S 000-038241 and Contracts Finder ref: EMPWELL001-DN756675-47390153.
