Description

The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems to all West Midlands Fire Service sites.  

The purpose of the work to be undertaken is to ensure that Hot and Cold-Water Systems which include all plant/equipment and components associated with that system, e.g. all associated pipe work networks, pumps, storage cisterns, feed tanks, valves showers, heat exchangers, etc. are fully compliant with The HSE Approved Code of Practice and Guidance document L8 and HSG274 pt2, The Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems.

Water Treatment Works (Legionella Sampling and Testing) to Public Buildings and Delegated Properties within the City of Southend on Sea

Southend-on-Sea City Council is seeking to appoint suitably qualified and experienced contractors to undertake regular water hygiene testing (Legionella Control) in accordance with the approved code of practice and guidance for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems ACOP L8 to public buildings, facilities and delegated sites (including schools and community resource buildings). This procurement process has been divided into 2 Lots; Lot 1 – is for the appointment of a qualified and experienced contractor to carry out Risk Assessments, regular water sampling and testing, and treatment and remedial works required to the Council’s public buildings including toilets, parks, ponds and fountains in accordance with the approved code of practice and guidance for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems ACOP L8. These services will be appointed under a JCT Measured Term Contract 2016 Edition. The Council will be appointing one service provider for this Lot. Lot 2 – is for the appointment of a qualified and experienced contractor to carry out daily site service visits between 1st March to 31st October and twice weekly between 1st November to 28th February to the outdoor interactive water feature at City Beach Marine Parade in accordance with the PWTAG Code of Practice and the approved code of practice and guidance for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems ACOP L8. This service will include a 1 hour call out requirement to quickly resolve operational failures. These services will be carried out under a JCT Measured Term Contract 2016 Edition. Active Treatment Trials - innovative technology and approaches

In 2011, the Water and Abandoned Metal Mines (WAMM) Programme was set up between the Environment Agency, Defra and the Coal Authority to address pollution of rivers by abandoned metal mines. Currently, the Coal Authority operates four WAMM mine water treatment schemes, each using a different treatment technology, which are improving water quality in about 20 km of rivers. In January 2023, Parliament adopted a statutory metal mines target, under the Environment Act 2021, to halve the length of English rivers polluted by harmful metals from abandoned metal mines by 2038. The Government's Environmental Improvement Plan (EIP), published in January 2023, estimated that to achieve this long-term target would likely require around 40 new mine water treatment schemes and a similar number of diffuse interventions. The EIP set a non-statutory interim target to construct 8 mine water treatment schemes and 20 diffuse interventions by 31 January 2028. To help deliver the interim and long-term targets, the WAMM Programme is currently investigating active treatment options for mine water discharging from abandoned metal mines by undertaking active treatment trials on up to five sites This opportunity is now open with a submission deadline of 29 October 2024 All interested parties are advised to visit each site to familiarise themselves with the sites layout, limitations, restrictions and access.
