Chesterfield Canal Trust - Main Works Contractor

This Main Works package will restore around 350m of canal and associated works. In summary this will include the construction of canal channel, a lock, vehicle access bridge, the creation of Public Rights of Way (PROW) and the installation of a water supply pumping system. An overview of the works is listed below: Groundworks • Strip existing topsoil and stockpile • Installation of necessary temporary access roads and hardstanding areas to facilitate the proposed construction methodology • Implement agreed temporary protection measures to utilities • Excavation to formation levels • Testing of excavated materials as required by the remediation strategy • Stockpiling on site of suitable excavated material • Disposal off site of any materials deemed unsuitable • Installation of drainage • Placing excavated and imported materials to final profiles, including topsoil • Any other temporary works required to facilitate the proposed construction methodology, including the design of all such temporary works Canal • Construction of 350m of canal channel, including soft and hard edging • Install pumping system for water supply • Canal overflow Bellhouse Lane Bridge • Construction of new vehicular access bridge • Excavation to formation and construction of bridge foundations • Fabrication, delivery, assembly and installation of precast culvert • Formation of earth approach ramps • Road surfacing, vehicle restraint system and drainage to bridge • Surfacing and drainage to footpath approaches Lock • Construct new lock structure, including in-situ concrete, coping stones and brick facing • Manage installation of lock gates (via nominated supplier) Rights of Way • Constructing and / or maintaining temporary rights of way, including farm access • Construction, realignment or upgrade of 2.2km of footpaths • Removal of temporary footpaths and associated reinstatement • Installation only of new fingerboard signage for pedestrian routes Soft and Hard Landscaping Clay Relocation • Movement and placement of clay • Reworking of clay as per Earth Works Spec Report for clay liner CDM • Fulfilment of the Principal Contractor role as defined under CDM Regulations 2015 The tender documents are available from Jon Lindley. Environmental Framework & Action Plan - Doe Lea Valley

The river Doe Lea has suffered a lot with the industrial legacy of north Derbyshire & north Nottinghamshire, particularly from mining and the rapid expansion of communities to serve the mines and other industry. Significant effort has been invested in the last 40 years in cleaning up the river, but there remains a lot to do. Through the Don, Dearne & Rother Network catchment partnership, interested parties have been meeting to share their plans and ambitions for the catchment. It is clear to these parties that there are significant opportunities for partnership working on a catchment scale to expand the scope of intervention and deliver real positive changes to the river environment and the wider catchment. To inform the work above, the partners have secured funding through the Water Restoration Fund to develop an Environmental Framework for the Doe Lea Valley and to develop an Action Plan for the delivery of a first trial phase. On behalf of the partners, the Chesterfield Canal Trust is now seeking consultants to deliver this work. Further work may be commissioned at a later date to monitor and evaluate the success of interventions and to refine and develop the Action Plan for future phases, subject to future funding and endorsement by the partners. Chesterfield Canal Partnership - Canal Corridor Masterplan

The Chesterfield Canal Partnership is seeking to prepare a new Masterplan to provide a strategic framework for the regeneration of the Chesterfield Canal between Chesterfield and Kiveton Park. The works will take place in three stages to broadly align with HM Treasury Green Book guidance: - Stage 1 will be a programme-level Strategic Outline Business Case - Stage 2 will be determined from Stage 1, and is broadly expected to be derived of four sub-programme level Outline Business Cases - one for each of the three local authority regions, and a thematic case for boat moorings and water-based development covering the full length of the Masterplan. - Stage 3 will be determined from Stage 2, and is broadly expected to be derived of a number of Full Business Cases at individual project or smaller sub-programme levels. The Chesterfield Canal Partnership is seeking consultants for two elements of the above via this opportunity: - Stage 1: Programme-level Strategic Outline Business Case - Stage 2: One of the four Outline Business Cases, for the North East Derbyshire local authority region. The remaining elements of Stage 2 and all of Stage 3 will be commissioned at a later date.
