Supply of medication for the urgent treatment of COVID-19 by community pharmacy within NHS Surrey Heartlands ICB

Provision of antiviral medication through NHS community pharmacy providers within Surrey Heartlands ICB for the urgent treatment of COVID-19. To reduce the risk of complications from and spread of COVID-19, and to optimise treatment use by providing safe access to treatment in a timely manner to avoid clinically unacceptable delays, this specialised service is provided by a limited number of community pharmacies in Surrey Heartlands. The service is designed to cover the supply of medication following prescription of the treatment to a Surrey Heartlands patient by a clinician within the COVID medicines delivery unit. There is a requirement to start treatment quickly in line with the recommendations included in NICE TA878. CPV Code 85149000-5 - Pharmacy services, but not including community pharmacy services that are arranged under The National Health Service (Pharmaceutical and Local Pharmaceutical Services) Regulations 2013

Palliative Care Medicine Services in Warrington

Selected Warrington pharmacies hold the stock of an agreed range of drugs used in palliative care. The list will be agreed between Warrington Place and the local palliative care specialists and updated as necessary. The Provider must order and continuously hold the range and quantity of stock specified for the total number of hours the Provider is open, including bank holiday and rotas and during any periods of locum cover. The Provider must include the Palliative Care Medicine Service in their entry on NHS Choices where possible and accept referrals from NHS 111.

A number of pharmacies across BNSSG are providing the enhanced service for the availability of specialist medicines. By providing the specialist medicines enhanced service, pharmacies are required to ensure that the specialist medicines are available at all times during their opening hours and on any bank or public holidays on which they open. This enables access to medicines for patients and their carers across BNSSG. Funding to enable select community pharmacies to undertake the contract. A value of £850/pharmacy/year, in addition cost of any expired medicines held. This enables patients/carers to access medicines for specialist conditions (including end of life medicines) in a timely manner This contract will be from 1st April 2024-31st March 2027. This procurement has been carried out by NHS South, Central and West Commissioning Support Unit (SCW) on behalf of the Commissioners.
