Located on the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire, Diamond Light Source (DLS) is a leading-edge facility for science, engineering and innovation. Diamond allows researchers from academia and industry to investigate the structure and behaviour ofthe world around us at the atomic and molecular level. To continue delivering the world changing science that Diamond enables, the facility is being upgraded to Diamond-II, a coordinated programme of development that combines a major machine upgrade with new instruments and complementary improvements to optics,detectors, sample environment and delivery capabilities, and computing, as well as integrated and correlative methods. This will be transformative in speed and spatial resolution and will offer users streamlined access to enhanced instruments for life and physical sciences. The scope of this contract is to carry out the detailed design, manufacture, quality control, magnetic measurements and delivery to Diamond of a total of 16 Octupole Corrector Magnets (including 1 pre-series magnet) for the Diamond-II upgrade in accordance with the specification. 1831 / ITT /SC - UHF MRI Magnet, Gradient Coil Set, and Scanner Back-End

Synopsis: This procurement relates to the establishment of a National Facility for Ultra High Field ("UHF") Magnetic Resonance Imaging ("MRI") to be located at the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre at the University of Nottingham. The tender is divided into three lots; Lot 1 – Magnet, Lot 2 – Gradient Coil Set, and Lot 3 – Scanner Back-End. Since Lots 1-3 will need to be integrated to form the UHF scanner, cooperation among the appointed suppliers is critical to the success of the awards. Further development will be required for the Passive Shielding and RF Cabin which will be tendered later in the process when the magnet design is finalised.
