Characterisation support for management of waste stream fingerprints;

Contract Award notice (https://www.contractsfinder.service.gov.uk/notice/139323b3-7653-4836-9af3-b937e5e74330?origin=SearchResults&p=1) released in 2022 to notify the market of an award under Nuclear Waste Services, Waste Characterisation framework. The notice advertised an incorrect contract award value. The correct contract value is £450,000. This notice is to rectify the mistaken value and notify the market of the correct award value. ************** Call off contract under the Nuclear Waste Services, Waste Characterisation framework for Magnox sites to utilise. The contract will support the management of waste stream fingerprints; predominately LLW but it could also include some ILW. The requirement may relate to any wastes derived from any of the Magnox waste streams, both historical and project specific, with the focus on decommissioning. The following characterisation services, will be delivered • consultation, • sampling, • analysis, • data interpretation, • advice on waste routing.

UKRI-1679 Remote Retrieval and Handling Facility

The Remote Retrieval and Handling Facility (RRHF) project is part of the Waste Accumulation Reduction Programme (WARP) which is in place to manage the accumulation of radioactive waste from legacy facilities and current ISIS Neutron and Muon Source (ISIS) operations at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL). This radioactive waste needs to be safely managed and disposed of in compliance with legislation and government policy. In response to this requirement, STFC needs to develop the capability in terms of facilities, techniques, staff competence and external stakeholder agreements to reduce this backlog and sustainably manage radioactive wastes from current and future activities. The RRHF will be a specialist facility which will allow handling of radioactive waste, primarily in preparation for disposal, but also facilitating sampling, size reduction, Post Irradiation Examination (PIE), maintenance and other tasks involving radioactive materials.
