Support, Maintenance and Development of SnowOwl and SnowRay

Contract with B2i for the provision of development, support and maintenance of the Snow Owl® Collaborative Authoring Platform and Terminology Server provided by B2i Healthcare to underpin the terminology authoring processes. This platform and tooling are used to author national SNOMED CT codes, and the ongoing maintenance of publication of the maintenance and improvement of the SNOMED CT UK Drug Extension.

Tech Innovation Framework

The Health & Social Care Information Centre (Known as NHS Digital), on behalf of the Department of Health & Social Care, for the provision of foundation Electronic Patient Record (EPR) solutions and associated capabilities for primary care IT, within a new framework Tech Innovation Framework, & utilising a refreshed set of technology standards & solution capability requirements. These solutions will be reflective of healthcare professionals’ needs, as shared with NHS Digital through detailed research & user engagement. The Tech Innovation Framework Lot 1 Framework Agreement will be the contractual vehicle through which Call Off Ordering Parties will purchase Catalogue Solutions from suppliers. The Tech Innovation Lot 2 Framework Agreement will be the contractual vehicle through which the Contracting Authority or The Health and Social Care Information Centre commission Opportunity Items listed on the Digital Care Services Catalogue Capabilities and Standards Roadmap.

Content Evidence Checks

The content has been created using the best available evidence and is presented in a balanced manner so that users can understand and act on it. As a minimum each piece of content is reviewed at least once every 3 years to ensure it is clinically and factually accurate based on the latest clinical guidance. For the last 18 months our content team has been focussed on delivering COVID-19-related products and services, which has created a backlog of reviews. This has meant we have not been achieving the 3-year review deadline for some topics.

Provision of Services for Clinical Assurance

NHS Digital (NHSD) writes clinical content to support the Patient Pathways and 111 Online services. It is critical that this content is up to date and reflective of the most up to date treatment advice. This contract establishes the formal assurance of clinical information and content and with it, the provision of specialist development expertise across a broader spectrum of conditions and relevant subject matter experts. Initially focussed on NHS Pathways and NHS 111 Online, the assurance will include a review of new content (‘prospective content’), but also a review (over a 5-year period) of current and legacy content (‘retrospective content’).
