Description

The Public Health Team of Cardiff and Vale University Health Board recognises the important relationship between housing and health and is developing collaborative work on housing, within our Health Board and with wider NHS, local authority and third sector partners. To inform and target this work, we need to deepen our evidence-based understanding on how housing is affecting the health of our communities and whether unhealthy, unsafe, unsuitable or insecure housing is harming the health of certain population groups more than others. To do this, we require a Health Needs Assessment (HNA), which will systematically review the qualitative and quantitative evidence on housing and health in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan. Alongside a wider assessment of housing and health, we are particularly interested in understanding more on how housing affects the health of children, people with disabilities, and the health of people in temporary housing situations.

ThermoChimie Phase 4

The ThermoChimie project (Thermo-Chimie (version applicative 4.4.0)) is a thermodynamic database development project, co-funded by Nuclear Waste Services, NIRAS-ONDRAF, and Andra. A robust, traceable, exhaustive, and dependable thermodynamic database is essential for underpinning a future Environmental Safety Case for the surface, near-surface or deep geological disposal of radioactive waste, as well as to perform a range of sensitivity and scoping calculations in support of ongoing research activities. Phase 4 of the ThermoChimie project is planned to start in February 2026. The ThermoChimie Phase 4 Framework has the overall objective of providing both specialist and non-technical support resource to the consortium, in the form of a range of desk-based and experimental data generation/selection activities. Outlined activities are in support of the four key project success factors: (i) database traceability, (ii) consistency, (iii) east of use, and (iv) exhaustivity. The appointed Consultant will act as the Authority’s retained Mechanical & Electrical engineering advisor, delivering a flexible, responsive, and expert-led service which covers the following key functions: Core Consultancy Services • Provide independent, qualified technical advice on all mechanical and electrical systems, both existing and proposed. • Support planned and reactive maintenance strategies across the estate. • Undertake feasibility studies, condition surveys, technical assessments, and investigative reporting. • Provide design consultancy for refurbishment, maintenance, and capital works projects. • Act as the technical lead or client-side advisor during project delivery, including site inspections, snagging, commissioning oversight, and compliance reviews. • Undertake dilapidation surveys, energy performance assessments, and life cycle costing models for M&E systems. • Deliver AutoCAD and/or BIM-compliant documentation as required. The contract commencement date is to be advised later and will, once awarded, run for a period of 2 years, with the option within the contract to extend +3 if both parties are happy with the performance provided.
