Description

This work aims to provide nutrient-neutrality support to Cornwall Council. Below, we have outlined the
scope of work which we anticipate will be required (The detail of the scope and activities is undefined at
this point and will be agreed on an ongoing basis to suit the project requirements):
?Advice on replacement of septic tanks to provide nutrient mitigation - This will include
focused input and support on the generic methodology and site-specific calculations & eligibility
assessments. Some stakeholder engagement is also likely to be required with
homeowners/holiday park owners and Natural England.
Planning application reviews - Provide advice on nutrient-neutrality assessments and mitigation
proposals to case officers. Nature-based solutions advice - Focussed input and support on nature-based solutions such
as riparian buffer strips, constructed wetlands, and woodland creation.
General support - Strategic level support and advice, including supply & demand calculations
and assistance with the establishment of a nutrient trading scheme.
Consultation - Consultation with landowners, Natural England, Environment Agency, Agents,
members.
Project management - Management, coordination and invoicing.
Project meetings - Attendance at various project meetings.

Marine Pollution Response and Resilience in the Maldives; Hazardous and Noxious Substance (HNS) Management Training (FCDO)

This contract is focused on the delivery of accredited Hazardous and Noxious Substance (HNS) training. The training course needs to be run twice, both times in central command (Male, the Maldives) The project is linked under the Indian Ocean Directorate of the Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO). Hazardous and Noxious Substances (HNS) are an emerging threat to the environment and coastal communities of the Maldives; with the expansion of shipping routes and more extreme weather events, risks exist which can cause significant impacts and damage to the environment and the livelihoods of the coastal communities who rely on it. Maldives are particularly at risk of such impacts due to their disparate geography, limited response resources and reliance on their marine environment for income such as tourism and food security. We are looking to initiate procurement and delivery of targeted HNS training in early 2026 for key Maldivian stakeholders including coastguard and environment authorities. This training should build on and be made bespoke to the wider HNS and oil National Contingency Plan by linking to the new policy documents and using the training as an opportunity to test and where possible improve them. This initiative will strengthen national preparedness and technical capacity to respond effectively to HNS incidents, reducing the risk of long-term environmental degradation and safeguarding coastal livelihoods. By embedding practical skills within the framework of the updated National Contingency Plan, the training will ensure that policy commitments translate into operational readiness.

WATER QUALITY MONITORING SERVICE/ Legionella Control Management Programme

Mid Ulster District Council wishes to appoint a suitably experienced and competent contractor to assist in monitoring the legionella risks across the Council's estate. The Council engages in the usual range of Local Government activity, including Leisure Services, Community Services, Parks and Open Spaces, Tourism, Cultural Facilities, Refuse Collection, Street Cleansing, Environment Health, Burial Grounds, Public Conveniences, Administration, Employment, Finance, Economic Development and Building Control amongst others. This requires the provision of approximately 110 buildings/facilities across the Council area, ranging from Public Conveniences to large Leisure and Administrative Centres. The contractor will develop a written scheme to control the risk and will assist in managing the implementation of the assessments. The contractor will also ensure the safe and correct operation of the system implemented, and that a process of checks and monitoring are introduced to ensure the risks are managed. The successful contractor must ensure that the works and components thereof comply with all recommendations, requirements and current editions of the following (as amended): • Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 • Management of Health and Safety at Work (NI) Regulations 2003 • Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (NI) Regulations 2002 • Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 and HSG274
