Description

This is notice of a planned procurement opportunity to upgrade the radar equipment on Border Force Maritime’s Coastal Patrol Vessels. This is to enable potential bidders to prepare for, and express an interest in, this upgrade.
The objective of this procurement is to replace the obsolete radar parts already fitted to an integrated navigation suit on three vessels. 
The Opportunity to bid for this competition will be from mid-September 2025. The Buyer is aiming to have the first upgrade completed by end December 2025.
The full requirement will be provided at Tender stage.

Remote Electronic Monitoring (REM) 2025

Remote Electronic Monitoring, (REM), is a data collection tool that can be installed on vessels to collect information on fishing activities and catches. A REM system typically consists of a control box, cameras and sensors collecting various data (video imagery, GPS positions, winch rotation activity, hydraulic pressure readings etc.), that can then be interpreted to generate information on when and where a vessel is fishing and what it is catching. Five priority fisheries were identified as part of that consultation process, fisheries A to E. Early adopter phases are the first step of our journey towards the implementation of REM across the priority fisheries over the next five years. We aim to begin working with vessels from the second priority fishery in 2025, and then each subsequent year beginning the next priority fishery. The Scottish Ministers, acting through Marine Directorate are looking to engage a supplier to provide the replacement of the Sperry Bridge Master E RADARS onboard the vessels MPV Minna, MPV Jura and MPV Hirta. Marine Directorate, a directorate of the Scottish Government, manages Scotland's seas and freshwater fisheries and require RADARS both X-Band and S-Band onboard their vessels to ensure the safety of the vessel and remain compliant all Flag and Class national and International statutory requirements, regulations and standards.
