Description

The Site is located approximately 2km north-west of New Row, on the road to Abermagwr. The grid reference for the centre of the site is SN SN716 741. 
The spoil tips of the Wemyss mine site lie to the north and south of the Cwmnewydion Road. The Lower Mill Stream is culverted under the road and flows south to its confluence with the Nant Cwmnewydion. 
The Lower Mill Stream is eroding the tips on the south side of the road, particularly where it exits the culvert under the road and hits the side of the tip with high velocity. Between October 2024 and January 2025, a section of tip approximately 1m high, 0.5m deep and 4m wide collapsed into the stream. 
The works are required to reduce the erosion of the tips. The works comprise laying rock rolls at the toe of the tips in the places where they have been observed to be actively eroding, in accordance with the Mining Remediation Authority drawings

Imperial War Museums (IWM) is seeking tenders from experienced and qualified contractors for the construction of a new Fire Engine Shed adjacent to the existing Air Traffic Control (ATC) Tower at IWM Duxford. This facility will serve as a critical operational hub for the IWM’s fire response team, supporting rapid deployment, equipment storage, and personnel readiness in a heritage-sensitive and safety-critical environment. The new building must be utility in style, prioritising functionality, durability, and low maintenance, while incorporating architectural features that complement the historic character of the surrounding site. The design must respect key planning constraints, including maintaining unobstructed visual lines from the Visual Control Room and ensuring the new structure does not exceed the height or footprint of the ATC Tower. Internally, the shed will accommodate three fire vehicles with appropriate spacing and emergency access features, alongside dedicated areas for equipment storage, breathing apparatus servicing, decontamination showers, changing facilities, and a watch room with CCTV integration. External works will include a floodlit vehicle manoeuvring zone, secure access to airfield taxiways, drainage infrastructure, and improved pedestrian pathways. The successful contractor will be expected to manage the project in accordance with airside safety protocols, environmental regulations, and a clean site policy, with works being completed by the end of March 2026. Culvert Flow Gauging Structure - Ceredigion

The Mining Remediation Authority (MRA) is seeking a contractor to construct a flow monitoring structure at the outfall of a historic culvert. This culvert drains the dressing floor of a former mine site. The purpose of the structure is to enable accurate measurement of water flows entering a recently lined stream. Following the application of concrete canvas to line the stream, water discharging from the culvert is no longer contained within the channel. This is due to the culvert's invert level being lower than the level of the stream lining at the discharge point, causing water to flow beneath the lined channel. As a result, sediment has accumulated near the culvert outlet. The proposed works involve modifying the existing stone-lined culvert to intercept and convey flow to a suitable downstream location. At this point, a V-notch weir will be installed to discharge into the lined stream, allowing for accurate flow measurement. Due to the risk of sediment build-up within the culvert, a CCTV survey will be required to assess sediment volume. If necessary, sediment will be removed to prevent future obstruction of the monitoring structure.
