Description
The City Council wishes to appoint an artist or artist collaboration to lead, develop and deliver the project. A high level of community interaction is expected from the artist/s, and this will require them to engage and collaborate with local people as part of the design process. Working with Ward Councillors and the local community to develop a new public art installation in Romsey Recreation Ground, we wish to target artists whose practice and experience are inspired by themes relating to environment, ecology, biodiversity, and scientific exploration. The work will be developed and authored by an artist engaging with the community and responding to an open brief. The Romsey Recreation Ground public art commission represents a significant possibility to create meaningful artwork that celebrates and enhances the site's ecological importance while strengthening community connections. Through widely promoting the opportunity to local artists and allowing an open, inspiring brief, this commission can deliver artwork that meets expectations and creates a lasting legacy for the community.
