Description

The University of Salford (UoS) intends to procure the services of a Principal Contractor to undertake remediation works to a brick boundary wall located at the Christchurch Car Park, Christchurch Avenue, Salford, Manchester M5 4WT.
The car park is owned by Salford City Council, with the University operating under a shortterm lease agreement for the use of the car park. The wall in question forms the eastern boundary of the car park, separating it from adjacent residential properties in Fire Station Square.
The boundary wall is approximately 70 metres in total length, with its height varying between 2900mm and 3300mm. Due to differing ground levels on either side of the wall, temporary land retention measures may be required during construction. The wall has suffered from prolonged deterioration and partially collapsed in early 2025. A section measuring approximately 32.8 metres has been identified as the extent of the required remediation works.
The site is situated within The Crescent Conservation Area, requiring sensitivity to heritage and conservation considerations. Careful dismantling will be required where necessary and any existing bricks in good condition to be carefully removed, cleaned, and reused.
