Dementia Day Opportunities - Block

Warwickshire County Council (the Council) is seeking a single provider to deliver a countywide dementia day opportunities service. The provider must be able to demonstrate and evidence to the Council's satisfaction that they are already providing dementia day opportunities in a group setting of a similar size, level of activity and value to this tender opportunity. A Dementia Day Opportunity is defined as a scheduled session of specified duration that is delivered in a dementia friendly building. Sessions are managed by providers and are designed to support a specified number of individuals diagnosed with dementia. Sessions offer individuals living with dementia an opportunity to socialise, engage in meaningful activities, and be supported by trained staff. Day opportunities encourage community inclusion through organised trips and having members of the community visit the centre. The aims of the service are: - To provide high quality, specialist, and person-centred support to individuals diagnosed with dementia. - To provide an opportunity for people with dementia to engage with their community. - To support people with dementia to remain in the community for as long as is appropriate and possible and to prevent unnecessary admissions to hospital and/ or residential or nursing care. The outcomes of the service will help maintain the health, wellbeing, independence, and social inclusion of people diagnosed with dementia whilst providing an opportunity for informal carers to receive organised and planned respite from their caring role. This is an open procedure to commission a dementia day opportunities service within Warwickshire. During the course of the contract period the range and scope of these services may be subject to modification and variation to meet the changing needs and requirements of the Council, potential changes in legislation, changes due to Local Government Reorganisation and the changing demands placed on the Council by its customers.
