Description

Quarry Moor is a nine-hectare nature reserve, with two areas designated as Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) for its calcareous grassland and geological cliff face.

The site is a mix of woodland and open spaces. The tree species composition is relatively limited, with a significant proportion of ash (Fraxinus excelsior). The age range is limited, with few fully mature trees and no veteran trees present.

Following the Tree Risk Assessment carried out in July 2025, the following actions are required:

• Tree removals (within 3 months unless stated otherwise)
The following dead or severely compromised trees must be removed to eliminate safety risks:
o T01 - Common Ash (Growing into a group) - remove within 6 month
o T03 - Common Ash
o T04 - English Elm
o T07 - Common Ash
o T08 - English Elm
o T10 - English Elm (Group of 3 trees) - remove within 6 months
o T11 - English Elm
o T12 - English Elm
o T13 - English Elm
o T15 - English Elm (Group of 3 trees) - remove within 1 month
o T18 - English Elm (Group of 2 trees) - remove within 6 months

• Deadwood Removal (within 3 months unless stated otherwise)
Remove deadwood greater than 25mmfrom ash trees affected be Ash dieback
o T02 - Common Ash (3 trees, sever ivy at base) - remove within 6 month
o T06 - Common ash
o T14 - Ash
o T16 - Common ash

• Additional works
o T05 - Field maple - either sever and remove ivy or remove tree to the boundary - within 3 months.

*Tree survey details and the tree location map are available upon request.
