Description
The access tracks running through Ham Street Woods National Nature Reserve / SSSI to the south of Ashford in Kent (managed by Natural England) become very wet and muddy in winter due to the clay substrate. The main aim of this project is to surface 300m of track that link to a 1km surfaced bridleway (the main public right of way bisecting the reserve) to create year-round circular routes for visitors, thereby enhancing their enjoyment of the site and reducing disturbance to the wider woodland. The works also include a top dressing to 425m of bridleway to bring it up to standard. The works are likely to take up to three weeks and will need to be completed by the end of August while ground conditions remain favourable.
