Description

National Audit Office (NAO) used the Healthtrust Europe ICT Solutions framework to award a contract to XMA Limited who will be providing end user devices to support the NAO end user compute replenishment program. 

The contract will run for a initial 4 years period from Friday 6th June 2025 until Tuesday 5th June 2029 with 12 months optional extension until Wednesday 5th June 2030. 

The estimated contract value will be £3.5m gross

Domain Name Service (DNS) Solution

The BBC is seeking to procure an Internet-facing authoritative DNS (Domain Name Service) solution. The purpose of this solution is to ensure BBC Online and related services continue to remain available in the UK across the globe. Due to the critical nature of this service to the BBC’s online presence, it is essential the BBC has direct access to the technical and operational teams responsible for providing the DNS services. To ensure service continuity and the necessary level of technical expertise, the BBC will not accept tender submissions from third parties, such as resellers. The BBC will instead only accept submissions from DNS infrastructure providers capable of delivering the service directly. Currently, the high availability design of BBC Online relies heavily on DNS for load balancing across different service architectures, failover responses in the event of service problems, and ensuring the best possible audience experience by routing clients to the most appropriate services that can respond to their requests. The necessary DNS resolution capacity to satisfy current global query levels, and to withstand large-scale DDoS attacks against DNS without affecting availability or performance 2. Increased resilience to global DNS network failure or service problems by provision of two logically and physically separated DNS resolver networks. 3. Increased resilience to volumetric DDoS attacks by including additional network edge intelligence such as IP reputation data in the dynamic configurations. 4. Increased service analytics & insights into DNS usage to inform operational monitoring and business reporting.

Meter Data Management System

This procurement is for a Meter Data Management System (MDMS) to support the nationwide rollout of AMI smart metering to ~135,000 business customers by providing the central data management platform for smart meter data. This procurement runs in parallel with a separate procurement for smart water meters, Head-End-Systems (HES) and communication networks. The MDMS must be able to integrate with the smart metering solutions being procured through this parallel framework and provide functionality that reflects the unique market conditions in Scotland. <br/><br/>The MDMS platform is required to: <br/><br/>Manage the potentially diverse smart meter estate; where the MDMS will support in the overall configuration and management of the estate and the information it produces <br/><br/>Aggregate smart meter data and alerting information to enable the management of the metering system and provision of meter data for consumption by external/internal stakeholders. <br/><br/>Meet stringent security and resilience needs. <br/><br/>Support Scottish Water’s demand reduction target of 80MLd. <br/><br/>The scope of this MDMS procurement includes: <br/><br/>Provision of core capabilities: system implementation, maintenance, and support services. The MDMS platform and its associated environments are a central hub for reception and transformation of meter data that is moved to Scottish Water platforms. Scottish Water require 3 environments (for development, testing, and production); however, this may change subject to the level of customisation and configuration of the MDMS. <br/><br/>Data analytics and reporting capabilities. <br/><br/>Integration with the HES and other supporting systems and the management of key data items across the smart metering value chain. <br/><br/>Integration with existing analytics and data fabric capabilities at Scottish Water in a Data Lakehouse architecture with hybrid fabric capacity. <br/><br/>Data sharing capabilities for internal and external stakeholders (e.g. provision of meter read data to retailers). <br/><br/>It is expected that the successful Bidder will provide a cloud-based MDMS solution in alignment with Scottish Water's cloud-first strategy, with appropriate integration capabilities.
