Description

The Northern Ireland Assembly Commission is seeking to procure British Sign Language (BSL) and Irish Sign Language (ISL) translation and interpretation services in order to deliver its duties and provide an effective service to Members and the public. It is seeking to appoint a supplier of sign language interpretation services, in BSL/ISL, to support the Assembly’s legislative, scrutiny and representational roles. This will facilitate understanding by a more diverse range of citizens of the policy, legislative and scrutiny work of the Assembly and its Committees, creating opportunities for broader engagement in the democratic process and leading to more informed and comprehensive decision making by the Assembly. These services may be required to be delivered in-person, in a live-broadcast environment and at times requests may be made for remote delivery, or provision in a recorded for broadcast video format.

British Sign Language and Interpretation Services

We are looking for Bidders interested in bidding for the contract for British Sign Language (BSL) translation requirements, including consultations and other information relating to exams and assessments. Ofqual is seeking a supplier who will be able to produce, as and when needed, specified Ofqual communications in British Sign Language (BSL). Since 2020, we have produced BSL versions of a number of documents aimed at a student audience. Previous examples include the Student Guide to post-16 qualification results that was published in summer 2020, and the series of videos supporting the first consultation on GCSE BSL assessment arrangements. We intend to produce similar types of videos in 2025 and future years, and are looking to appoint a supplier for 2 years in the first instance, on a call-off contract. Other central Government departments, such as The Department for Education, may also choose to commission similar work via this call-off contract.

Scottish Ministers are seeking to establish a Framework Agreement for the provision of Interpreting, Translation and Transcription Services for Framework Public Bodies throughout the Scottish Public Sector. The Framework is a multi-lot/multi-supplier agreement and has 4 lots covering the provision of: Lot 1 - Face to Face Interpreting Services Lot 2 – Telephone and Video Conferencing Interpreting Services Lot 3 – Translation and Transcription Services Lot 4 – Sign Language Services – British and International Under Lot 1 - Face to Face Interpreting Services, the Contractor will provide a comprehensive face to face interpreting service from English into a wide range of spoken languages and dialects and from those languages and dialects into English or other languages as requested by Framework Public Bodies Under Lot 2 – Telephone and Video Conferencing Interpreting Services, the Contractor will provide a telephone and video interpreting service from English into a wide range of spoken languages and dialects and from those languages and dialects into English or other languages. This will include a scheduled video interpreting service for Framework Public Body assignments booked in advance. This can be either via the Framework Public Body video portal or via the Contractor video portal. Under Lot 3 - Translation and Transcription Services, the Contractor will provide a translation and transcription service from English into a wide range of spoken languages and dialects and from those languages and dialects into English or other languages as requested by Framework Public Bodies. The Contractor will also be required to provide an English-to-English service. The service required includes a highly accurate translation and transcription of style documentation, tapes and other forms of electronic media. Under Lot 4 - Sign Language Services – British and International, the Contractor is required to provide both a comprehensive face to face sign language interpreting service and a Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) sign language service to fulfil the current and evolving needs of the Framework Public Bodies.
