Description
East Riding of Yorkshire Council are delivering the Changing Coasts East Riding (CCER) project, which which seeks to trial and understand best practice for coastal transition in areas that cannot sustainably be defended from coastal erosion in the East Riding of Yorkshire. To ensure that the CCER project can most effectively deliver and maintain the right environmental enhancements in the right place, the development of a Coastal Ecological Enhancement Opportunities Study is required. The Study will encompass an assessment of the baseline ecological value of the East Yorkshire coast (within the CCER project boundary) and identify a suite of options that would enhance land which is unsuitable for development. It will consider the suitability of different interventions based on a range of variables including, but not limited to: ● Current / previous land use ● Size of site ● Life expectancy of site (e.g. sites which will be lost to erosion over a range of time periods) ● Up-front cost of intervention ● Ongoing maintenance requirements including cost and comparing these to a business-as-usual approach. ● Identified as a priority for the Hull & East Yorkshire Local Nature Recovery Strategy.
