Description
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) build and operate networks to best meet customer needs using the most efficient and flexible techniques possible. To do this, we have introduced Flexibility to help manage our network in the optimal way. The primary use case for Flexibility Services has been the economically efficient deferral of network reinforcements to manage thermal constraints. A Stability Service is a different kind of Flexibility Service that does not fall under the typical standard flexibility services as it provides network stability as opposed to managing a thermally overloaded network asset. Network stability has historically been provided by synchronous generators such as gas turbines; however, in regions where more asynchronous generation is present, network stability becomes problematic. This is due to the lack of an inherent capability to provide stability in intermittent generators such as wind farms. The Western Isles network is an example of a region where we need an alternative source of stability during planned outages and fault conditions. To address this requirement, SSEN are tendering for the provision of a Stability Flexibility Service for the Western Isles. SSEN invite interested suppliers to view the Tender Documents on our Jaggaer e-procurement system under "Current Opportunities" here https://sse.app.jaggaer.com/esop/toolkit/opportunity/current/list.si?reset=true&resetstored=true Full details of the service required and how to respond to the invitation to tender can be found on that page.
