Description

The University of Southampton conducted a competitive procurement exercise for the modernisation of one lift within the premises of Building 76X, University of Southampton, Wessex Lane Halls Complex, Southampton, SO18 2NU. The lift is located within a residential university premises and is now some 19 years old and in need of modernisation. It is also intended to upgrade features to comply with EN81:70. The Lift Contractor is requested to assume
responsibility of Principal Contractor for the lift works.

The University of Southampton is not a contracting authority for the purposes of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 and therefore its procurement activities are not subject to the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. Mill Lane Car Park is a small multi storey building with 5 levels of parking available and accommodates 432 spaces, it has a headroom restriction at the entrance of 1.95M and It is locked overnight from 7 pm until 7 am. Currently vertical transportation is provided by 1 elevator car and two staircases. The elevator car and operating equipment have reached the end of their effective life and need removing and replacing with new. Thanet District Council requires a suitable contractor to carry out these works. The Contract is anticipated to commence upon October 2025 and will continue for a period of 20 Weeks (with any agreed extension/s) unless terminated in accordance with the Conditions of the Contract.
