Description
Leicester City Council has a network of five Air Quality Monitoring Stations (AQMS) which collect air quality data on an hourly basis. As a local authority we are statutorily required to report this data to DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) as part of our Annual Status Reports each year, as the data is used to determine the Council's compliance with DEFRA's Air Quality Objectives. Since 2013 a third party has provided services relating to this data, including: collection, management, storage, validation, and ratification. The Council then receives the data from its stations each year when it can then be used in reporting. The Council requires this service to be continued as it is not viable to be done in-house.
