Description

The School of Health and Care (SHC) recruits between 1100 -1300 new health and social care students, to a suite of courses within each academic year, across several delivery sites including Coventry, London, and Scarborough. These students undertake a programme of study that leads to registration with a professional regulatory body including the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC for allied health professionals) and professional bodies such as the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists (CSP) and College of Occupational Therapists (COT).
As part of their course, there is a mandatory requirement for health and social care students to complete professional practice placements. This involves working in health, social care and private sector settings, voluntary and independent organisations. All students are therefore required to have an 'Occupational Health Assessment' to establish their fitness to undertake the University course and practice placements and must receive the various vaccinations in advance of commencing training in a practice setting.
