Description

Ipswich Borough Council (IBC) is seeking to appoint a Lead Designer to produce proposals for modernising the lifts located within one of its high-rise blocks. The Lead designer will act as the point of contact between the council and its partners in the delivery of the project.

The existing lifts consist of two passenger lifts that serve alternating floors. The lifts are estimated to have been installed in 1976. Both lifts are traction lifts, utilising steel ropes, electrically controlled winches located in the roof of the building, to pull or lower each lift car within each lift shaft.

IBC are considering upgrading the lifts to allow each one to stop on all floors and/or construct a new external lift shaft with new lift equipment.
