Description

-	The proposed scheme comprises the installation of photovoltaic arrays (PV) together with full replacement of the existing central distribution as part of the works on the British High Commission's Main Compound Site in Banjul, The Gambia. The works include: 
-	Installation of 2 No. new Photovoltaic arrays, ground mounting systems, all associated cabling and underground ducting, AC/DC services, including local energy supplier equipment, submitting applications, local energy supplier liaison and export metering systems. 
-	Replacement of the existing electrical main switchgear assembly to enable incorporation of photovoltaic arrays and battery energy storage facilities. 
-	Provision of battery storage facility situated in the generator building storage room adjacent to the main electrical switch room. 
-	Provision of cooling system including associated power supplies within the new battery storage room to ensure the battery units remain at optimum temperatures.
-	Provision of mechanical ventilation situated in the generator building storage room adjacent to the main electrical switch room. 
-	Survey ground structure / integrity to confirm that the chosen areas can support the new photovoltaic installation. 
-	Survey the indicative cable ducting route from the proposed inverter positions to the main electrical switch room. Provide new trenching, for ductwork. 
-	Upgrades to the existing switch room and proposed battery storage room that shall include lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarm works and lithium-ion gas detection. 
-	Provision of earthing, bonding and lightning protection system, as required. 
-	Employ a Lightning Protection Specialist to provide a Lightning Protection / Earthing installation to bond any solar steel support frameworks and switchgear as part of these works. 
-	Provision of Builders work holes and fire stopping of service penetrations. 
-	Testing and commissioning of the new electrical switchgear, battery storage and photovoltaic equipment. 
-	Witness testing of the existing generators to ensure change-over functionality is operational. 
-	Testing and commissioning of the new electrical switchgear, battery storage and photovoltaic equipment.
-	Witness testing of the existing generators to ensure change-over functionality is operational.

TEC Partnership - Replacement Switch Gear and Associated Cable Works

A prior information notice was published on 06.06.25 to allow for a shorter tender length of 15 days. The tender is for the installation of a new bespoke made switch panel to he installed within the same room, but on the opposite wall to limit downtime to the site. There are 5 paper lead cables that require to be replaced as part of these works, to the distribution board adjacent the main hall, within main kitchen and all three floors on the OC corridor. These cables will run a mixture of internal and external on dedicated cable management. The local distribution within the main kitchen will be partly replaced as part of the works along with mains isolation within the OC corridor. The new cabling will be installed along with the switchboard all ready for changeover over limiting downtime. The changeover will require a temporary 30kv generator to ensure the 2 x 1phase distribution boards within the main server room are kelp fully operational before during and after the switchover with the only allowance for downtime at a weekend for installation of the temporary generator and then removal once the switchboard is energised and fully tested and functioning, the contractor shall allow for all the generator hire and running cost within his scheme of works. The contractor shall allow for all the existing retained cables to be transferred and altered to suite the new switch panel and testing with all rectifications as required to provide a complete grade a test certificate once the works are completed.
