Term Service Contract for Asbestos Surveys to Corporate & Housing Properties

The contract covers for the provision of asbestos surveying services including the analysis of samples taken. The objective of the contract is to receive accurate and timely survey information to assist the council in managing its building and housing stock in a safe and effective manner. This contract will also assist in meeting the council’s obligations as duty holder under the Control of Asbestos Regulations. A Survey Report identified the presence of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) within the basement tunnels of the Downshire Civic Centre. While the affected area is not accessible to general staff, the ACMs identified still present a health risk to authorised personnel who may need to enter the tunnel. To ensure compliance with Control of Asbestos Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012, and to eliminate the risk of exposure, the identified materials must be removed safely by a competent, HSENI-licensed contractor.
