Description

Tackling domestic abuse has been a priority for Dorset Council and its partners for many years. This includes the prevention of abuse, tackling offending and supporting people experiencing domestic abuse, as set out in the Dorset Domestic Abuse Strategy.
Dorset Council has commissioned an Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS) which includes, community-based outreach support (medium risk), safe accommodation, helpline and recovery and therapeutic support. IDAS sits alongside a wider system of support, where services are either commissioned by wider partners or delivered through a vibrant Voluntary and Community Sector. Since the release of the Domestic Abuse Act 2021 (and associated Statutory Guidance) Dorset Council has had new responsibilities to ensure there is support for people experiencing domestic abuse (and their children) in safe accommodation. Dorset Council is only responsible for services it is commissioning and includes the Integrated Domestic Abuse Service (IDAS), and the Support Services to People Experiencing Domestic Abuse in Safe Accommodation-Based Settings (New Burden's), which will be combined into one contract. The Children's Services Safeguarding Families Together (SFT) Domestic Abuse Victim workers is included within this contract.
