Description

The Project forms part of the wider Workington Gateway programme, which is made up of the following elements:\r
1. Ramsay Brow junction (A66/A596) improvement to improve access to strategic employment sites, including the Port of Workington.\r
2. Road widening of Hall Brow (A596) to improve access to strategic employment sites, including the Port of Workington.\r
3. Local active travel network improvements and enhanced public realm, including a new LTN1/20 compliant east-west cycle route through Hall Park running parallel and complementary to the A66, supporting proposals in the Local Cycling and Walking Infrastructure Plan (LCWIP).\r
4. Enhancement of the cultural offer and visitor experience within Hall Park, including creation of a Social Enterprise Centre within the Walled Garden, and feature lighting of Workington Hall.\r

This Project will generally comprise:\r
• Realignment and widening of the A66 Ramsay Brow/ A596 junction, allowing HGV movement from the A66 to the employment and distribution sites north of Workington.\r
o A pocket park to replace the existing Henry's pub site with improved public realm, seating and a landscaped area.\r
o New toucan crossings on the eastern and southern arms of the junction.\r
o New cycle infrastructure along the A596 eastern footway between the A66 and Ladies Walk.\r
o Widening of the A66 Ramsay Brow southern footway to achieve minimum 2m width throughout.\r
• Widening of the A596 Hall Brow, allowing HGV movement from the A66 to the employment and distribution sites north of Workington.\r
o Formal permit-holder only parking for the Hall Brow residents.\r
o Relocated existing park boundary wall to accommodate carriageway widening.\r
o New parallel Toucan crossing for pedestrians and cyclists across the A596, connecting Black Path to the park.\r

The Project will be delivered in two stages:\r
Stage 1: Design and production of Stage 2 Works Information: Administered under NEC3 ECC Option A.\r
Stage 2: Construction: Administered under a separate NEC3 ECC Option A.\r
There will be a decision hold-point between Stage 1 and Stage 2 where the Employer may choose to proceed, or not to proceed to Stage 2.\r

This is clearly identified in the tender documents. - The value stated in this notice is the midpoint of a range between £1,000,000 - £1,500,000 (exclusive of VAT). - The value stated in this notice is for the initial works and may be extended to include additional works (for example, the foul sewer). It is expected that the full contract value is estimated at approximately £3,000,000 (exclusive of VAT). Any additional works are clearly identified in the tender documents.
