Ocean Country Partnership Programme: Mozambique: Scoping the Design of an MPA Management Training Academy for MPA Practitioners of Mozambique

Background to JNCC can be found on JNCC's website at: https://jncc.gov.uk/about-jncc/ JNCC is a delivery partner for the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP), a UK government-led programme under the Blue Planet Fund. The Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) supports countries to: • strengthen marine science expertise • develop science-based policy and management tools • create educational resources for coastal communities This contract sits under the "Marine Biodiversity" strand of the Ocean Country Partnership Programme, which aims to support countries to develop the skills and expertise needed to establish well-managed and enforced marine protected areas, promoting healthy ecosystems with thriving biodiversity and fisheries that communities rely on for food and livelihoods. This contract is being delivered on behalf of the Government of Mozambique. A key ask from Mozambique's Government departments is for support in building capacity in MPA managers in Mozambique. Most MPA managers have a terrestrial background, with limited marine conservation knowledge, and limited practical skills in marine resource management - this is limiting the current MPA network in Mozambique and will restrict their ambition to expand the network to reach 30 by 30. As part of the OCPP support to Mozambique, JNCC proposes supporting the design of an MPA Management Training Academy to upskill MPA practitioners, enhancing their ability to effectively manage existing and expanded MPAs. This contract is the first stage in this process, to fully understand the capacity building priorities of MPA managers across Mozambique. JNCC will work closely with The National Administration for Conservation Areas (ANAC), the Oceanographic Institute of Mozambique (InOM), and local delivery partners to design an effective training programme to meet requirements. Additional information: You are invited by JNCC Support Co (JNCC) to submit a tender for the supply of works or services required under the above project. If interested, you should download and carefully read the documents contained within the zip file.
