Description
Roger Howe bridge was constructed as part of the M6 motorway building programme through Cumbria in the late 1960's early 1970's. It carries the A685 over the River Lune and is located to the North East of Kendal. It is a five-span bridge formed from precast pre-tensioned beams, in-situ concrete slabs, columns, crossheads and abutments. This contract is for the replacement of the 6 movement joints at the 6 half-joint locations across the full width of the bridge as well as for undertaking concrete repairs at these joints, including precast concrete beams, insitu concrete crossheads and insitu concrete deck at half-joint locations. It also includes for the vegetation removal and the sealing of gaps between parapet plinths and the parapet coping joints at half-joint locations. In addition the contract is for undertaking a Principal Bridge Inspection, and an Inspection for Assessment.
