Blood Gas Analysers and associated consumables. University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Eastern & Northern) wishes to review bench top point of care testing devices which can be used for the analysis of blood specimens. The review looks towards increasing test reliability, analytical performance, ease of use and reducing consumable and support costs. The contract period will be for 5 years with the option to extend for a further 24 months. It is the intention of the Trusts to novate the award of this contract into the Pathology Managed Laboratory Service contracts in this region, currently with Roche Diagnostics Ltd and Abbott Laboratories Ltd. Blood Collection Devices

The scope of this Framework is to cover Blood Collection Sets​, Blood Collection Needles (Safety and Standard) ​, Blood Culture Systems with Initial Specimen Diversion Device, Blood Culture Bottles, Blood Culture Packs, Blood Sample Tubes​, Blood Gas Syringes​, Support Products​, and Associated Products. Precise quantities are unknown. It is anticipated that initial expenditure for this Framework will be circa £61,000,000 GBP in the first year of the this Framework Agreement. If the Framework Agreement is extended to the maximum duration, the anticipated expenditure will be circa £244,000,000. However these are approximate only and the values may vary depending on the requirements of those bodies purchasing under the Framework Agreement.
