Description

Many of the British Library's early microfilms - some of which are now unique items in themselves - are on acetate film and will not survive in perpetuity without further intervention. The best way to prolong their life - and the life of many film-based materials is to store them in a cooler climate than is necessary for many non-film-based materials.

Currently the British Library store these items in an external cold storage facility. The purpose of this RFI is to ascertain if other similar facilities are available in the United Kingdom.

When submitting information, all organisations should note that this is not currently a tender opportunity but is part of a market consultation exercise aiming to ensure that the procurement route selected, and the options ultimately developed for any procurement are properly informed.

Additional information: The contracting authority considers that this contract may be suitable for economic operators that are small or medium enterprises (SMEs). However, any selection of tenderers will be based solely on the criteria set out for the procurement.
