Description

The Sport for Peace Project is to deliver a programme of activity for 1600 young people from different communities across Belfast to improve relations through sport.
The focus of the contract is to promote peacebuilding and positive change through sport and community engagement across 4 key pillars, which encourages partners to work collaboratively to deliver grass roots programmes to build resilience, develop leadership qualities and encourage playing sports within communities.
Pillar 1: Qualification/Coach Education
Pillar 2: Participation
Pillar 3: Mentoring & Employability
Pillar 4: Research
The project also involves the establishment and facilitation of a city-wide Sports Consortium. The facilitation of best practice and networking events and cross border shared learning events. The project will engage people from different communities to improve relations through sport. All activity should have a good relations focus and seek to address interface issues.
The project forms part of the Belfast PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan, which is supported by PEACEPLUS, a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)
