Description
A variety of waste is produced and disposed of from West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) facilities and Bus Stations, ranging from non-hazardous general wastes and recyclable materials, through to special and hazardous wastes. WMCA recognises the importance of continuously improving our environmental practice and waste removal is a managed activity where this must be delivered. WMCA also has a duty to dispose of waste according to current legislation, legally and responsibly, using licensed waste carriers, disposers, and service providers. Our upcoming Environmental Strategy sets out our objectives for carbon reduction and effective environmental management, including sustainable development, resource efficiency, waste management and reduction. Our aim will be to minimise waste arising from WMCA facilities, reduce water consumption across our sites, and ensure that no waste from WMCA facilities goes to landfill. To date WMCA has only been recycling at Coventry Pool Meadow Bus Station, so this is an opportunity for us to work with a waste provider to enhance our current ways of working for the benefit of environmental and sustainability agendas. We therefore would welcome supplier expertise to review how we currently do things within our bus stations, propose better ways of working and be part of this journey with us. WMCA is seeking to appoint a maximum of 1 supplier(s) for this Contract. Additional information: Awarded contract is for 24 months with the option to extend 24+24+12
