Description

APHA and the School of Biology, University of Leeds, have partnered on a studentship to develop models of British deer populations. Wild deer are a significant host species for many diseases of concern for GB biosecurity. To robustly develop policy advice, it is necessary to establish fundamental understanding of deer ecology and management. This project will aim to identify and collate available evidence and combine it into a simulation model capable of examining control strategies for various issues of wildlife management including outbreaks of disease with an impact on animal (livestock) and/or human health.
