Description

Task 1 - Provide data updates (version 3.1) and technical support during migration

1.1 To update/replace key datasets (River Network & Habitat Potential Mapping Data)

1.2 Support the migration of the LUCT from ADAS Systems to the Animal and Plant Health Agency's (APHA) Scientific Compute Environment (SCE) for EA access ensuring data security, user permissions and testing (if possible). This will be administered through a 'development day pool,' for time spent supporting the migration of the LUCT and if not utilised during this milestone will be used across Task 2.

Task 2 - Training provision for LUCT User Testing

2.1 Record an 'Introduction to LUCT' webinar, including the features of LUCT, what questions it can address about best location for new habitat/woodland with examples of outputs.

2.2 Provide bite-sized learning modules (of suitable quality for EA to publish on our SharePoint or website) for new users, providing information to make them confident basic users of the LUCT. Materials can be recordings, webinars, slides and other formats but should contain worked examples, interpretation of outputs and GIS support. Additional modules will enable more technically advanced users of the tool to run more complex scenarios. This assumes up to 3 hours of content - the list of learning modules is to be agreed in advance by EA and ADAS.

2.3 Provide new LUCT Reference materials - including scenario construction guide along with Q&A document. Maintain pre-existing and new LUCT Reference Materials (as defined through current and former LUCT contracts, e.g. LUCT User Guide)

2.4 Host two Live LUCT User Workshops (EA attendees only) - aimed at skilled users of the tool, to run more complex scenarios.

2.5 Host 10 once-weekly support surgeries (1-hour sessions) throughout user testing (EA attendees only).

Task 3 - Project Management

3.1 Provide management to cover the contract period. Includes final delivery report with summary of upgrades and products delivered and support provided under this contract.

BE24244 - Estimating the future prices and scale of engineered GGRs in voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs).

The final date and time for the submission of bids is Friday 6th December 2024 at 11:00hrs. DO NOT apply directly to the buyer. All tender information MUST be submitted through the Jaggaer eSourcing Portal. The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) is seeking to commission expert research and modelling to forecast the prices and quantity of engineered Greenhouse Gas Removals (GGRs) traded in Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCMs) in yearly intervals to 2050, by technology type. The UK will achieve its net zero target by 2050 primarily though taking ambitious decarbonisation measures; however, some sectors, such as aviation and agriculture, will be hard to abate completely by 2050 so will require greenhouse gas removals (GGRs) to compensate for their residual emissions. GGRs is the name given to a group of methods that actively remove greenhouse gases, predominantly CO2, from the atmosphere, also commonly referred to as Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR). They broadly fall into two categories: nature-based approaches, such as afforestation and soil carbon sequestration, and engineering-based approaches, such as Direct Air Carbon Capture and Storage (DACCS), Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (BECCS), Wood in Construction, Biochar and Enhanced Weathering (EW). Following the sector classification adopted by the Climate Change Committee (CCC) and in the Net Zero Strategy, DESNZ's focus is on engineered removals and will be the focus of this research project. The Net Zero Strategy outlined the government's ambition to deliver at least 5MtCO2/year of engineered removals by 2030 to around 23MtCO2 per year by 2035. By 2050, deployment of engineered removals at a large scale, between 75 and 81MtCO2 per year, will be needed to help compensate residual emissions. Please ensure you review all attached information to ensure a full understanding of this requirement.
