Description

When a death from a suspected suicide occurs, provision of a timely response to support those in distress, and who may need urgent help is needed. This could be a friend, colleague and in some cases, no relationship to the person who has died. The Project will incorporate prevention, intervention and postvention as part of a 3 tiered approach to the risk of suicide attempt following a death by suicide.
This service requires a provider to:
• Offer and provide timely and appropriate support for people affected by suicide.
• Provide accessible, local face-to-face counselling.
• Increase access to information about other supportive services and resources that are available.
• Improve the range and quality of bereavement support after a death by suicide.
• Provide a point of contact for those bereaved by suicide to leave a request for support, available 24/7.
• Raise awareness of the incidence of suicide or attempted suicide in those who have been bereaved by suicide in primary and secondary care.
This contract is for an initial period of 1 year and shall take effect from 01 October 2024 – 30
September 2025. The Authorities may extend this contract beyond the initial term by a further
period or periods of up to 24 months (extension periods) to a maximum of 3 years.

Women's Community Health Worker Service (WCHW)

Buckinghamshire Council's Public Health team are commissioning a Women's Community Health Worker Service (WCHW) on a pilot basis for 3 years only. The aim of the Service is to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes of women (including women from key ethnic groups) living within the most deprived areas of Aylesbury and High Wycombe in Buckinghamshire before, during and after their pregnancies. This will be achieved through recruiting and training five whole time equivalent Women's Community Health Workers to provide a range of targeted one-to-one, group and community-based activities that meet the needs of this population. This human resource group has enormous potential to extend services to vulnerable populations, such as communities living in remote areas and historically marginalized people, to meet unmet health needs in a culturally appropriate manner, improve access to services, address inequities in health status and improve health system performance and efficiency." Community Health Workers will perform a variety of duties, across the four key themes (educational, navigational, support and intelligence), whilst working closely with voluntary and community sector colleagues, primary care, maternity, health visitors, public health, adult social care, community mental health teams and the Family Nurse Partnership.
